Alumni Weekend Opening Session: UCSF Priorities and Breakthrough Science
Chancellor Sam Hawgood will open Alumni Weekend with an update on UCSF’s latest achievements and strategic priorities. Following his remarks, Stephen Hauser, MD, recipient of the 2025 Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences, will share how his pioneering work in redefining multiple sclerosis treatment has transformed patient lives and advanced global standards of care.

Half-Century Club Luncheon (Class of 1976 and earlier alumni)
The Half-Century Club Luncheon brings together graduates from the Class of 1976 and earlier across all UCSF schools, plus the Graduate Division and the UCSF/SFSU Graduate Program in Physical Therapy. This tradition, which unites alumni from every UCSF school, creates a shared space to reflect on our rich history and culture.
Seating will be arranged by school, allowing classmates to reconnect and celebrate the milestones that define their UCSF journey.
UCSF Talk: Discovery Talks - Breakthroughs Across Science
Moderated by Nicquet Blake, PhD, vice provost and dean of the Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs, Discovery Talks spotlight UCSF innovators in a TEDx-style format. Alumni will be immersed in diverse perspectives—from advances in precision medicine to new models of patient care—through stories that bring cutting-edge science to life. This session offers inspiration, along with accessible ways for alumni to engage with and understand the impact of UCSF.

UCSF Talk: Global Trauma Care - UCSF’s Impact in Resource-Limited Settings
UCSF clinicians, educators, and collaborators are transforming trauma and musculoskeletal care in some of the world’s most resource-limited settings. Drawing on firsthand experience working with the Institute for Global Orthopaedics and Traumatology (IGOT), David Shearer, MD, will share innovations in training and workforce strengthening, online education, and data-driven quality improvement that have enhanced outcomes where resources are scarce and the burden of injury is most significant.
The session will examine how UCSF’s commitment to global health translates into sustainable, locally driven solutions—through capacity building, interdisciplinary collaboration, and long-term partnerships. Alumni will gain insight into the real-world challenges of delivering care across diverse settings, the lessons learned that inform care at home and abroad, and the vital role UCSF continues to play in shaping the future of global trauma care.

Join us for fun, food, and friendship at the Alumni Weekend Networking Reception! This lively gathering invites all UCSF alumni to connect, share stories, and celebrate their shared experiences. With live music, hors d'oeuvres, and an ambiance that blends UCSF’s history with the energy of today’s campus life, this reception is the perfect opportunity to make new connections and reconnect with old friends before joining the UCSF community at the San Francisco Giants baseball game.

Enjoy a special night at the ballpark as the Giants face the Miami Marlins. Enjoy complimentary food and nonalcoholic beverages in a private UCSF skybox while reconnecting with fellow alumni and friends. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase on the Club Level. Space is limited, and tickets will sell out.

UC alumni who were once involved in student-run clinics come together to reflect on a legacy of community care—the enduring impact of the Chicano Health movement. Rooted in service to Latinx communities, student clinics were formative spaces where hands-on care, accountability to community, and collective leadership shaped alumni who now lead in health equity as clinicians, researchers, and advocates. Open to all, this session explores how these early clinic experiences created health equity leaders—and why sustaining student/community clinics remains essential to advancing equitable care for future generations.
